Surety Bonds

A Surety Bond is a complex Bail Bond which requires a series of contracts with a Bail Bond Agent in order to secure bail. These contracts, in essence, commit the Bail Bond Agent to act as a “surety,” who will uphold the obligations of the arrestee (the defendant) in regards to the bail amount as set by the court.

Before committing to a Surety Bond, a Los Angeles Bail Bond Agent will conduct a series of interviews in order to ensure the agreement will be in the best interests of all parties involved. These interviews are used to determine whether the arrestee will make all upcoming court dates. Because the Bail Bond Agent is responsible if the arrestee fails to show up in court, this agreement and these interviews are all the more important.

There are three parties involved in a Surety Bond:

  • The “surety” - the Bail Bond Agent
  • The “principal” - the defendant/arrestee
  • The “obligee” – the court
